Engelbert Binedell
Engelbert is the Chief Operating Officer of Growthpoint Management Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Growthpoint Properties Limited. He has 22 years’ experience in property management, fund and asset management.
After majoring in psychology Engelbert started his career as a school teacher. In 1996 he was given the opportunity to join Investec Private Bank in the Risk Division. Engelbert was responsible for the managed book for Investec Private Bank which included distressed property. During this period, he completed his Master’s in Business Leadership.
In 1999 joined Investec Property Group, managing the Property Syndication Portfolio and RISCO (a specialised unit that was established to manage the Groups property risks).
Engelbert joined Metboard Properties Limited as Portfolio Manager and was responsible for the day to day management of the portfolio. Having been absorbed by Growthpoint Properties Limited, Engelbert joined the management team of Growthpoint, as a Portfolio Manager, Sector Head, Regional Asset Manager, Fund Director, and finally Chief Operating Officer.
His responsibilities include property management SA, IT, creditors, procurement, legal, some asset management and development as well as sustainability and utilities. (He is responsible for the management of ±480 staff.)
