About GBCSA

Inspiring an environment in which people and planet thrive.

The GBCSA works with its membership community to inspire a built environment in which people and planet thrive.

We are passionate, collaborative planet shapers that operate across the commercial, residential and public sectors to ensure that buildings and homes are designed, built and operated in an environmentally sustainable way. Our combined influence drives competitive, viable and professional membership advantages. GBCSA’s affiliations enable access to a community of experts at home and abroad.

The GBCSA is one of about 75 members of the World Green Building Council.

Together we create a platform for advocacy, training and certification.

Our Green Office

Living the vision

The Cape Town offices are located in Observatory at Black River Park, and our Johannesburg home is in Rosebank. We are grateful to the sponsors of both offices who provided a 4 Green Star Interior-rated environment for our benefit.

Our office doors are open to members with ample desk space and Wi-Fi.

Our Green Building Leader Network (GBLN)

The GBCSA market strategy is premised on working with a leader community

We actively celebrate their achievements, reinforcing the aspirational and commercial value of their commitment. As these leaders demonstrate green building is commercially viable the market follows.

The GBLN is a small network of industry leaders from the private and public sector who champion the holistic essence of green building and provide strategic funding to enable the continued growth and effect of the GBCSA.

The following 5 members make up the GBLN:

  • Growthpoint
  • City of Tshwane
  • Liberty 2 Degrees
  • Standard Bank
  • South Africa Local Government Association
