Standard Bank Namibia’s new Head Office in Windhoek was designed to minimise energy and water consumption, as Namibia is a hot and dry country. Louvres, perforated screens, trees and wings on the exterior of the building offer shade and glare control, while still allowing plenty of natural light to spill in and allows occupants a view to the outside.

The building is located near one of Windhoek’s largest shopping malls, The Grove, including two smaller shopping center’s adjacent to the Mall. There are also ample bus stops close to the building as well as a taxi rank within 400m of the building. This location is critical in the reduction of trips building occupants need to make during lunch and working hours, which minimise greenhouse gasses produced because of the building.

The building features a xeriscape garden and a beautiful boulevard with pedestrian and cycling paths as well as an outdoor active area. This boulevard lifts the entire area and benefits building occupants and the general public.
