Meet the members: In conversation with Charles Drayden

Charles Drayden is a principal member at SA Modular Housing. He leads the sales and marketing team, along with Ken Puncerelli, of the LAI Design Group. He answered our questions to give us insight into his work, the environment and what inspires him.

Drayden is engaged in the private practice of law and business consulting. He specialises in the areas of complex commercial transactions, energy, governmental relations, municipal financing, business and commercial litigation and alternate dispute resolution. He is currently the principal in the Drayden Group.

1.  Where do you go for inspiration?

The homeless center, where families and individuals who lack living quarters go to receive safe temporary living space, food and healthcare that is needed. The courage of these families and individuals is amazing. I have yet to find a single individual that has given up and I remember that, whenever I feel exhausted.

2.  What is the best part of your work day?

The very best part of my work day is when I exceed a client’s expectations and assist them resolve an issue they believed could not be solved.

3.  What achievement are you most proud of?

Being a good father and husband.

4.  What do you think is the most urgent global environmental challenge facing us?

Global warming is a worldwide health crisis. We must strive to reduce carbon emissions drastically and as fast as we can.

5.  What do you feel is the biggest issue in the green building industry that we have to overcome, and any ideas on where to start in tackling it?

We must define green energy building in a matter that actually displays the difference our structures will actually make in our global environmental crisis. This must be the standard as we move into the future.
