Josebus Van Zyl
Josebus van Zyl known to friends as "Sewis" obtained his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering as well as his Doctorate in Engineering at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. He has approximately a decade of experience using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) with the past six years focused on biotechnology applications. Josebus completed his Ph.D in 2012, where he gained experience in multidisciplinary research, including hands-on experimentation of hydrolysis and fermentation of cellulose and glucose respectively to form ethanol, rheological measurement of particulate mixtures, numerical modelling of cellulose to ethanol reaction kinetics coupled with CFD simulations. Josebus is currently a Director and Modelling Engineer at Greenplan Consultants performing an array of simulations to assess the energy efficiency, thermal comfort and air-flow both through and around residential and large commercial building according to SANS 10400-XA and SANS 204 standards and Green Star protocols.
