The GBCSA Hall of Fame : Hlompho Vivian

Hlompho Vivian, currently holds a Business Development and Key Accounts Specialist position within the Green Building Council South Africa. Her role is to facilitate cooperation with the public sector to create an enabling environment for green building implementation through certification, capacity development and advocacy.

Before joining the GBCSA in late 2018, Hlompho was an Advisor of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH Climate Support Programme (CSP) where she worked for three years. She provided implementation support and technical advisory to public sector climate change programmes under the Near-Term Priority Climate Change Flagship Programmes, in the areas of green buildings and waste management. The Near Term Priority Climate Change Flagship Programmes were implemented in partnership with the Department of Environmental Affairs.

Hlompho also supported the development of the business to consumer Green Building Council smarthome campaign launched at the 11th Green Building Council Convention 2018.

In 2014 she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Honours in Environmental Management (UNISA) cum laude, with her topic: An impact assessment of Sibanye Gold’s Driefontein waste management practices on water quality, Far West Rand Goldfield. Hlompho also holds a BSc in geology and mathematics from Rhodes University.
