Marco Macagnano

Marco Macagnano is an Associate Director, Senior Design Architect, and Joint Head of Sustainability with Bentel Associates International, a leading architectural, master planning and interior design consultancy based in Johannesburg, with offices in Cape Town and Mumbai.

Marco obtained a Master’s degree in Architecture at the University of Pretoria, and is currently a PhD candidate having recently completed his thesis proposing an integrated systems design-methodology and revised model for sustainable development in the Information Age, focusing on how the architectural profession and built environments are required to evolve to meet the needs of 21st century design and delivery.

With over a decade of experience in most sectors of the industry, Marco has lead projects of varying size and complexity in design and implementation, including: commercial, retail, residential, institutional, health care, and hospitality projects. His work is supported by expertise in Building Information Modelling (BIM) in project design and delivery, as well as in green building design as an Accredited Green Building Professional for new and existing buildings.
