GBCSA / Office v1.1

Green Star Office: v1.1

For rating new office developments and major refurbishments of commercial buildings.

Our oldest and most used tool has been in operation since 2008. It is designed to rate new office spaces.

In order to use this rating tool you need to first make sure that your development meets both the eligibility criteria and conditional requirements as laid out in the technical manual. Building owners can seek certification for design and/or as built certification separately.

The rating tool is freely available and technical manuals are freely accessible to our members.

Getting started with this tool

The resources provided in the related downloads section of this page will help you get started with rating your project.

First, make sure the building will be able to meet the eligibility criteria as listed below and further explained in the eligibility Criteria download.

1. Spatial Differentiation

2. Space Use

3. Conditional Requirements

4. Timing of certification

Then get hold of the technical manual and then work through the credits with the project team, selecting the credits best suited to the building owners target, budget and building design.

Registration process

Once you have selected the tool and met the criteria you need to register your project via GBCSA Certification Engine. You will need to create a new profile if you do not have an existing one. Your account is valid for a 12 month period from activation to close out / final results.

In order to register the project you will need all the project and client details. A draft pro-forma invoice will then be generated and sent to the client & AP for verification. This is followed up by an official pro-forma invoice.

All further information is then channeled through the certification engine and the assigned GBCSA case manager for your project.

Once payment has been received and a signed certification agreement been uploaded to the engine, the project is considered fully registered and can be marketed as “aiming to achieve x stars”.

Design for sustainability is the pathway to a more resilient future
