The Green Building Council South Africa, in collaboration with Growthpoint Properties, invites post-graduate student in various property- and engineering-related fields to register for the 2025 Greenovate Awards. This initiative aims to inspire a new generation of industry talent to innovate for sustainability. The annual competition challenges students to address real-world obstacles in property and engineering with cutting-edge green thinking.
The competition seeks to develop and nurture young talent by:
- Exposing you to key sustainability focus areas relevant to your chosen field.
- Connecting emerging talent with industry leaders.
- Encouraging early career exploration of sustainability concepts.
The competition is open to two specific streams:
- Honours students in property studies, construction, and quantity surveying.
- Final-year students pursuing Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering degrees.
The top three winners in each category receive a generous cash prize along with additional rewards, including EDGE training and certification, as well as tickets to the GBCSA Convention, where winners have the opportunity to present and showcase their solutions.
Participants also benefit from mentorship, networking, and expert-led workshops, equipping them with the knowledge and resources to transform their research into real-world products or services within the property sector. This experience helps build lasting connections and fosters long-term industry partnerships.
