EDGE Auditors assess whether a building meets the requirements of the EDGE standard by investigation and evaluation of objective evidence. An EDGE Auditor reviews project documentation (design audit) and visits the project site (site audit) before making a certification recommendation to GBCSA. EDGE Auditors must be independent from the developer/owner/project team of the project they audit.

Become an EDGE Auditor

Are you a current certified EDGE Expert and want to also become an EDGE Auditor? Here is what you need to know.

Step 1: Review eligibility criteria (Edge Expert Certification) and book your training .

Step 2: Complete GBCSA's EDGE Auditor Workshop and assessment.

Step 3: Sign the EDGE Auditor Agreement with GBCSA & begin auditing EDGE residential projects.

Step 4: Maintain your EDGE Auditor status.


EDGE AUDITOR TRAINING:

Each EDGE application requires the appointment of an EDGE Expert who works with the client and the project team to prepare and submit the project documentation to GBCSA for certification. 

  • A detailed understanding of how the EDGE software works and the various measures it provides as options.
  • To understand the process and benefits of the EDGE certification process.
  • Signed EDGE AUDITOR Agreement with GBCSA
  • Be able to demonstrate appropriate higher education qualification in property related field or 3 years relevant experience


Training :

  • 4-hour workshop via GBCSA Online Learning Platform.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • EDGE Auditor consult and advise clients and project teams on the most effective and integrated way to design and construct the project using green building principles to meet the EDGE Standard.
  • EDGE Auditor consult and advise clients and project teams on the most cost-effective path for that specific project to achieve EDGE certification.
  • Ideally, each project should have an EDGE Auditor involved as the Project Admin (but this is not mandatory)

Lisa Reynolds

Chief Executive Officer & Executive Director

Lisa Reynolds is the CEO of the Green Building Council South Africa.

Lisa was the driver for the drafting of Energy Efficiency Standards and Regulations for Buildings and has been involved in Energy Efficiency since 2003. She serves on many committees in the SABS and within the energy management professionals’ space. She was President of the SAEEC from 2016 to 2019 and was the previous President of the ESCo (Energy Services Companies) Association. Lisa was instrumental in the formation of SAFEE (Southern African Females in Energy Efficiency) within SAEEC.

She has assisted the South African Government with its Green Building Framework policies, Energy Efficiency Tax Incentives and Energy Efficiency Strategies

Her passion for the “Green space” started with the birth of the Green Building Council in 2007. Lisa served on the Board and the Technical Committee of the GBCSA, as well as on several Technical Working Groups for Rating Tools and Criteria. Lisa. became CEO in June 2020.

Lisa has a BSc, an MBA and a CEM. Lisa’s awards include the 2007 ETA Award for Women, 2008 Individual Energy (SAEE), 2012 SABS Standards Writer Award; the 2014 Women in Energy (SAWIEN); and the 2016 Ian Lane Hall of Fame award.

Lisa is committed to growing the Green Economy within a Green Recovery.
